Abdominal pain is a symptom of a variety of gastrointestinal issues and diseases, which can make it difficult for your doctor to make an easy diagnosis.  For example, both Crohn’s Disease and lactose intolerance have abdominal pain as a symptom.

When coming to your ADH physician with the complaint of pain it will be helpful to bring with you as much information and observations as possible. For example, does your pain increase and subside throughout the day? Is it worse after meals? What did you eat before an episode? Do other symptoms, such as diarrhea or nausea accompany the pain?

After talking with you and doing a thorough history and exam, your ADH doctor will work with you to lay out a plan to diagnose then treat the cause of your pain. Additional testing may be recommended.
